Here you will find all the information about the Bike Club and what work you will do there
Ride Clean has been working with The Bike Club for two years. The Bike Club runs a leasing program for parents who can rent children's’ bikes and trade up bike sizes as children grow older. If you want more information about this then please go to The Bike Club.
Ride Clean is proud to have been working with the Bike Club from an early stage and it supports the mission of Ride Clean to get more people on bikes more often, as well as supporting a sustainable business model and reducing waste and a throw away culture.
The main brand of bikes that The Bike Club own are Frog Bikes, but there are other bike brands that are going to be coming on board, so don’t be surprised if you see others in the mix. The bikes are stored at the Warehouse in Canning Town and this is the site where all work will take place.
Ride Clean works on three main aspects of the business and you will get involved with all of these, but for explanation purposes these different roles will be explained separately here. During the day it is expected that you work as a team together to ensure that deadlines are made to get orders out in time. There is a core team of the Bike Club who work full time at Canning Town and we work to support their team.
These bikes have seen at least one owner (maybe more) and are returned to The Bike Club where they need to be ‘ReBiked’ (refurbished and checked) before being stored and ready for dispatch. The amount of work that will need to be done on each bike can vary quite a bit depending on who has had the bike and how many times the bike has been leased to different owners.
The number 1 priority is ALWAYS safety of the bike. Remember the owner of this bike is likely to be a little person who is still learning motor skills. We are also tasked with preparing the bikes so they are as close to new as possible which involves cleaning bikes, and touching up with paint and some repair work where necessary.
Each bike must be checked, cleaned, touch up’s made and any issues raised. Each bike must have a completed PDI, which you will be responsible for and will be logged under your name. It is critical that you understand that for each bike you complete you will be the ‘owner’ of the work and should any issues get raised further down the line by The Bike Club we will be able to track who has completed each bike. Take your time to become familiar with the standards expected and if you have any questions just ask.
Once bikes have been checked they can be stored either in the same box they came in or if that box was damaged then use an appropriate sized Bike Club box. Add a sticky label with:
Frame Number
Date
Type of bike (Frog/Tadpole/Forme/Cuda)
Bike Size (40/43/48/52 etc)
Colour (Pink/Red, Green etc)
Your name
New or ReBike
These bikes arrive directly from the Frog factory in Frog bike boxes and fully packaged. These bikes are unused and therefore should be in perfect condition and if you find any faults, please raise right away.
Building new bikes requires a different checklist and PDI form to be completed. This is done automatically as you enter relevant details as you go through the PDI. Just be aware that some of the checks may be different from ReBikes, so once again take your time to become familiar with the standards expected and if you have any questions just ask.
All new bikes need to be assembled and packed and stored in The Bike Club bike boxes and all Frog bike boxes must be flattened and all rubbish disposed of at the end of the day.
Once bikes have been built they are stored in an appropriate sized Bike Club box. Add a sticky label with:
Frame Number
Date
Type of bike (Frog/Tadpole/Forme/Cuda)
Bike Size (40/43/48/52 etc)
Colour (Pink/Red, Green etc)
Your name
New or ReBike
While most of your time will be spent building and refurbishing bikes we also help out the warehouse team to make sure bikes that are a) returned and b) dispatched are all logged on the system. Given we are all part of the same system, it makes life much easier for everyone if we help out as there are surges in the system during the day/week. You may be asked to help build boxes for bikes to go in, pack down old boxes, help with logging bikes into the system amongst other things. It is really a team effort so if you notice someone is struggling on their own, lend a hand! Bike boxes can be cumbersome to move about and having an extra hand can make all the difference.
These guidelines are exactly that, from time to time the requirements may change in terms of the actual checks on each bike and you may well see other makes and models of bikes, but each time take a methodical and systematic approach. If you have any queries or are unsure about where to put things or the quality of a bike’s condition, just ask.
Here is a link to give you an idea of what the PDI will look like that you will complete for each bike, although I understand there have been some updates to this very recently on specific questions.

While working at Canning Town it is expected that you will apply all the same principles of safe, tidy workspaces that you would at any other side. Keep all workspaces clear, tidy and organised. Clear rubbish as you go, it is a safety hazard for trips and falls.
All tools and equipment is provided by the Bike Club, it will all be left on site. If you are struggling with lack of equipment then inform Katy.
