Before your first shift make sure you know:
While working for Ride Clean we expect you to turn up with sensible clothing to do the work, this will change depending on the weather conditions and we expect some common sense over what is appropriate. In all public or customer facing sites we will provide you with a Ride Clean Polo shirt and apron, which are to be worn for your safety as well as protecting your clothes. This also identifies you as part of the team to partners and customers.
Closed toe shoes are to be worn at all times as they are part of your PPE and protect you from anything that should fall on your feet or products that may leak.
Long hair should be tied back neatly.
We also provide you with gloves to wear and should you want a face mask then just ask. Under the current circumstances we do require you to wear gloves in public facing environments, face masks are optional.
Before starting your first shift you will have been given quite a bit of information, don’t worry you won’t be expected to remember everything and many of the details will become second nature once you get started. The only things we need to have from you before you start your first shift are:
You can either send these via email to katy@rideclean.cc or bring hard copies of these documents along on your first day.
Make sure you have the following apps downloaded and an account set up for each one, they'll help you know your schedule, logging your work and hours
Sling : Your go-to app for shift allocation, company-wide announcements, messages, requesting time off
Acuity : your user login will give you details about your shift - who you will be seeing, what kind of bikes and at what time
Typeform : Ride Clean PDI that must be completed for each bike (You do not need to download this, but being able to access the Ride Clean PDI is essential)
iZettle : Used for walk-ups that want to pay by credit card (no need to create your own account for this one)

These are locations where we operate in conjunction with other businesses. They gain footfall from having us on site, we gain by having somewhere to operate. Examples Dynamo, Putney, La Ciclista, Sheen, No 4. Ritherdon Road, Balham. They will let us fill up with water as well as use the loo, sometimes you even get a free coffee!
At someone's house
At an office location
Work that is paid for in advance with a subscription or contract, this can be a whole organisation that pays for their employees or it can be an individual that pays for us to visit on a regular basis, there are discounts for this as the payment is through a direct debit.
A client of Ride Clean's where we work for The Bike Club to support their goal of more children on bikes. We work on their premises with their tools and equipment assembling and refurbishing ReBikes. More on this in separate section
These are our Christiania bikes, Beryl and Tommy which we use to get around, they are part of the team so please respect and treat as you would your own bike.
We know this can be a bit boring, but it is very important for your wellbeing. We keep processes simple but you must follow the guidelines for your own safety and for our customers, it will make your life easier.
Head over to the Health and Safety Page for full details. Please complete this test when you have read through the Health & Safety Page.
We also would like you to upload two short videos to show three separate areas of our Health & Safety policy eg. show how to correctly lift a heavy load, correctly wear PPE, handle cleaning products.
TIP: get a friends/team members to help with filming and GET CREATIVE!!

When you arrive at work, whether directly to a site or you are responsible for collecting a cargo bike and stocking it for the shift, you should arrive on time and ready to work. If you are cycling to the Ride Clean hub then you can leave your bicycle locked safely inside, if you cycle to a site then it is your responsibility for the security of your bike, Ride Clean will not be held liable. Having said that almost every site where we operate will have capacity to store your bike.
If you are arriving at the Ride Clean hub to collect one of the cargo bikes, it is your responsibility to stock the bike with everything you need for your shift.
Once on site your first objective is to set up appropriately and be ready to welcome your first customers. It is a good idea to locate the toilets and access to water right away so you get setup in good time. This allows you to be fully set and ready to work and should you have additional walk-ups you will be fully prepared.
You will then have bookings throughout your shift, and your can find details about these in Acuity.
Once you have completed all your bookings and it is the end of your shift, you will either leave the site directly or if you have bought one of the cargo bikes to the site then you are responsible to return it to the Ride Clean hub and if appropriate leave any notes about the condition of the bike and equipment.
All details for what you will get paid for regular sites are on the Getting Paid page and for other shifts the details will be detailed in Sling. Essentially once you are through your probation period you will be paid £11.50/hour, unless otherwise discussed with Katy. We account for time by the number of bookings and travel time when you are being asked to stock and ride a Ride Clean cargo bike.
The pay period runs from 26th of one month to the 25th of the next month. For example between the 26th April to the 25th May we will calculate all the hours worked and any additional commission made from walk up appointments which will be paid into your account within 7 days of the 25th of the month.
If you feel unwell before a shift and think you will be unable to work, please let Katy know as soon as you can either on email (katy@rideclean.cc) or mobile (+44 7834360682) leave a voicemail or text.
If you feel unwell while on a shift please let a colleague know if you are with someone on a shift, if you are alone, then please contact Katy as soon as possible.
There are first aid kits on every cargo bike and there will often be additional first aid kits at sites where you will be working. Please use common sense and if a small cut then clean your hands thoroughly before applying any bandage/plaster. All incidents should be noted in the accident log book stored in the cargo bike.
If you have a more serious injury then contact the emergency services and let Katy know. Your primary concern is to take care of yourself.
All of the shift patterns are done through the Sling app, you can request time off, see when and where shifts will be allocated and who you are working with. If something changes at short notice you can get in touch with Katy (katy@rideclean.cc)
All of this will be posted onSling and once you have this set up on your phone you can have notifications set so you won't miss a thing!
The Main Whatsapp group is there to communicate with the team but about non essential work chat. Katy will not answer specific messages here about requests for time off or questions relating to work, it is a place to have conversation with each other and share a bit of fun. There is also a Whatsapp group which is solely for sharing images taken while on shifts, of smiling customers, dirty bikes, clean bikes etc
