Make of our cargo bikes: Christiania Bikes from London Green Cycles
It has e-assist battery which is locked and left in the bike except charging. Please be aware these batteries are extremely expensive and should you damage while using the bike you can be held liable for the cost of replacement
Adjust seat height with quick release as necessary. Release the wheel lock and set the e-assist to on (rear light should come on).
Always start with handbrake on and release slowly.
Get settled with good posture and then release the hand brake while still holding both brakes (front and back)
Release the brake and gently start to pedal, the e-assist will operate as you pedal and help you move forward.
Pedal as normal, but be aware of much wider turning circle, additional weights means much longer braking distances are needed, especially down hill, and uneven camber can make turning tricky. Also be aware of potholes, three wheels spread out can make these more noticeable.
While riding the cargo bike you should be wearing Ride Clean uniform and suitable clothing and shoes, in wet weather suitable jacket and clothing. Please dress appropriately for the weather conditions. Helmets are not mandatory while riding the cargo bikes, it is your decision.
Lights - the cargo bike is fitted with a rear light in the battery pack, and a dynamo front light, but feel free to add additional lights that can be added and removed in a temporary fashion as you wish. Visibility is key and front and rear lights are a legal requirement in the UK when cycling in the dark.
While you have the cargo bike you are responsible for the security of it and the contents which amounts to substantial value. If something happens while you are using the bike and equipment, it is your responsibility to report it.
When the bike is parked in the garage it should be locked with the wheel lock and the battery ‘locked’ in place at the middle setting.
When the bike is parked while you are working it should be locked with the wheel lock and the battery ‘locked’ in place in the middle setting. I suggest you keep the keys in your apron pocket.
When parked outside a location it should be locked with the wheel lock and the battery ‘locked’ in place in the middle setting. I suggest you keep the keys in your apron pocket. If you are going to be a longer time then use the main lock to lock the frame to something permanent like a bike stand/lamppost and keep all keys with you.
